Regrowth For Hair
Androgenic Alopecia & Alopecia Areata
Regrow PRP therapy is a natural, non-surgical treatment option for patients experiencing hair loss. Alopecia (hair loss) is a fairly common condition that affects appearance and often plays a large role in a person’s self-esteem. It is estimated that by the age of 40, about 40% of women have suffered from some sort of hair loss. Similarly, approximately 85% of men will have noticed hair loss by the age of 50. Sometimes, like after pregnancy or chemotherapy, the hair loss is transient, however the forms of alopecia that are permanent will not correct without intervention.
Clinical studies provide evidence that PRP stimulates hair growth.
PRP contains stem cells and growth factors that encourages the hair follicles to become larger and healthier, by promoting localised cell growth. This can aid in the regrowth of new healthy hair.
No medications are required pre or post procedure. PRP can be performed up to every month based on how much hair growth is required. It is a great solution for both men and women, especially when hair transplant surgery is not an option.
Firstly, a sample of your blood is taken. This is then placed in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and plasma from the red cells. The PRP is then light activated. A local anaesthetic is applied prior to the procedure to minimise discomfort. This is then followed by an injection of the activated PRP into the scalp area where hair regrowth is required. The procedure will take approximately 60 minutes.
PRP injections can stimulate new hair growth in men who suffer from androgenic alopecia (known as male pattern baldness) and women who suffer from female pattern baldness. The male hair regrowth procedure is sometimes referred to as “PRP Vampire Hair Raising.”
Most medications used to restore hair, such as Propecia, can have side effects in men (such as erectile dysfunction). If these medications are well tolerated, they can be used in conjunction with PRP. PRP can also be combined with Minoxidil lotion for an even better effect. PRP treatments can be used in tandem with hair transplantation to reduce the death of transplanted hair follicles. PRP treatment is usually performed every 4 to 6 weeks for three sessions.
